Masala Dosa


Dosa Paste:

  1. 1 1/2 cups rice
  2. 1/2 cup urad dal
  3. salt to taste
  4. Oil

Masala Filling:

  1. 2 large potatoes
  2. 1 medium onion (chopped)
  3. 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  4. 1-2 green chili
  5. 1 tablespoon oil
  6. salt to taste 

Method for Dosa Paste

  1. Separately soak rice and urad dal at least 6 hour or overnight in water. 
  2. Grind to paste. 
  3. Mix together, add salt with water to make batter. 
  4. Leave in room temperature overnight.

Spicy Masala Filling : 

  1. Heat oil. 
  2. Add mustard seed, peas, onions and spice. 
  3. Fry for about 5 minutes on medium heat until onions are turned into golden brown. 
  4. Add potatoes and mix and cook some more. 

Masala Dosa Making :

  1. Heat the griddle and grease it before pouring the dosas.
  2. Pick up a serving spoon half of batter, pour it at the center of the pan and using spoon, spread the batter quickly. Note that the batter should not touch the edges.
  3. Now trickle little oil around the edges of the dosa.
  4. When the edge get browning and add Spicy Masala at top of dasa
  5. Let it cook for around 1 min.
  6. Then,pick the edge off of one side of the dosa with the flipper and fold it over the other side
  7. Dosa is ready to serve.
